A little introduction about TWR72 or The Walk and Rogerseventytwo
With a long friendship, The Walk and Rogerseventytwo started to work together as dj’s in the summer of 2004. Soon gigs followed in the Netherlands, including the big festivals, Prague, Paris, Copenhagen, Bratislava, Vienna, Berlin, Barcelona, Freiburg and London. Their name grew rapidly in Holland and the rest of Europe. It was in 2008 when Erol Alkan himself dubbed these guys as the ones to watch in the future. And he was right.
2010, Roger and Tom decided to change their name to TWR72 and focus more on producing tracks ‘together’. Their new sound was defined by BBC Radio 1 as Future Techno. At the start of 2010 they got signed by the ambitious label Instant Replay where they already released two EP’s that are supported by big names like Brodinski, Laidback Luke, Bart B More, Sound Pellegrino Thermal Theme, Zombie Nation, Atrak, Tom Trago and Joost van Bellen. By the time their third EP will be released, they got several remixes that will pop up including their Dinosaurs with Guns remix on the prestigious label Sound Pellegrino.
Next to being dj’s, the desire grew to perform with their productions. They developed a live show with an exclusive matching visual show in cooperation with their design team. Their live debut was at Valtifest 2010 but now they are ready to take over the world.
And they are taking over big time.
Paradox is one of my favorite TWR72 tracks, released on Sound Pellegrino, 26/08/11. I know it’s been released for a while now and it’s not very new, but hey, better late than never. You can listen to it here:
+ just out; their remix for Housemeister’s – Weird Friends (Released on Boys Noize Records, 05/12/2011)
Recently singed on Elastic, Eats Everything – aka Daniel Pearce from Bristol, UK – is rising from the underground scene.
I don’t think I could describe him better than his facebook bio does so here it is:
While some producers spend years finding their feet, Dan made a clear statement of intent with ‘Entrance Song’ his debut release on Catz N Dogz ‘Pets Recordings’ label that peaked at number 15 in Beatport’s all-ge…nre house chart. Part of a new wave of talented producers coming out of the West Country’s Bass Central, that includes Julio Bashmore and Waifs & Strays, he delivers exquisitely crafted sample heavy tracks paying homage to everything from Randy Crawford to Ray Charles. The have already been picked up by DJs as varied as Josh Wink, Jamie Jones and Maya Jane Coles, who included Entrance Song in her recent ‘Essential Mix’ for BBC Radio 1. In addition to this his ‘Coat Of Arms’ side project with Chris James has already gained widespread praise with ‘Is This Something’ signed to Jamie Jones’ new fabric mix compilation from Bristol’s fledgling Futureboogie label.
His next two bass-laden dance bombs have been picked up Claude Von Stroke for his flagship Dirtybird label, due out this autumn. First up is Tric Tac, a co-production between Eats Everything and Worthy followed soon after by ‘The Size’ which is already tipped to be one of 2011’s best selling underground anthems.
And here it is. The Size with the sample of Moby’s Porcelain, geniusly remade to another banger. I love remixes who turn the original song completely into another but still keeps em recognizable. Don’t know if you understand what I mean but just listen to it and you’ll get the picture.
ps: if you become a fan on facebook you can get The White Stripes – ‘Hello Operator’ (Eats Everything’ Jack Bootmeg) download for free.
Yeay! Popof is back! Our Parisian techno guru just released his new EP called Bleu Dream on Cocoon Recordings. Quality techno just as I expected. The Maetrik (Maceo Plex) remix is really good too. Here they are:
